OBJECTIVES OF CGWB

  1. Evolve strategies for scientific planning, development and management of ground water resources under different hydrogeological environs and develop and operationalise area- specific techniques/ technologies for its development,  augmentation and management.

  2. Regulate and control the development and management of ground water resources.

  3. Transfer of knowledge and education in hydrogeological research and ground water management and capacity building in all aspects of ground water development and management through information dissemination, education, awareness and training.

  4. To extend and promote the sustained and effective use of the Hydrological Information System (HIS) under Hydrology Project -II

  5. To enhance ground water sustainability through artificial recharge and rainwater harvesting as a measure for checking the depleting trend of ground water.

  6. Development of infrastructure  (offices, workshops  etc) for CGWB

  7. Farmers’ Participatory Action Research Program through field demonstration of technologies developed by institutes to enhance yield and income per drop of water

  8. Coordination of R&D programme of MoWR in the field of ground water(INCGW).

  9. Awareness creation and capacity building of stakeholders in ground water sector (IEC).

  10. Ensuring compliances to financial accountability framework (DPR/PAC report) - (Matters related to Audit Para).

  11. Administrative and personnel  matters comprising of Completion of  DPC meeting, assessment Board for FCS, MACP, Confirmation of probation, Recruitment through UPSC and SSC.

  12. Efficient Functioning of the RESULT FRAMEWORK DOCUMENT (RFD) system.
