Borehole logging

Status of work carried out in Andhra Pradesh

Equipment available :

Objectives

In Alluvial and Soft rock areas

1. Estimate thicknesses and depths of different formations
2. study of ground water quality which helps to understand the sea water intrusiion / contamination in coastal aquifers and-delineate areas polluted by Industrial effluents
3. Delineate geological structures like faults, dykes, etc.
4. Estimate depth to Archaean basement

In hard rock areas

1. Delineate lateral and vertical extents of weathered zones with their degree of weathering
2. Delineate structurally disturbed areas, viz. faulted, sheared, sfactured rocks, etc.
3. Study the quality of ground water
4. Estimate the depth to bed rock

Borehole logging

Objectives

1. Locating Formation boundaries
2. Identifying aquifer zones for recommending Well Assembly
3. Estimate quality of ground water
4. Correlation of Formations encountered in different boreholes
5. Locate fractured zones in hard rocks
