Central Ground Water Board has been exploring for
ground water on scientific basis in different hydrogeological environments
in the State during the last four decades. Exploratory drilling
is being taken up on regular basis for evaluating aquifer disposition,
aquifer parametres and ground water resources on first approximation.
This programme has lead to the identification and development of
potential aquifer systems down to depths of 200 metres in hard rocks
and 700 metres in soft rocks.
Technical
guidance to State Agencies

In addition to the drilling activity by the
department in the State, CGWB has also guided the local government
agencies viz. Andhra Pradesh State Irrigation Development
Corporation, Ground Water Department and Andhra Pradesh Agro
Industries Corporation in the drilling techniques and execution
of construction of production tube wells for irrigation.
