Central Ground Water Board, North Central Chhattisgarh Region, Raipur carries out analysis of ground water samples regulary for the purpose of monitoring water quality variations in the state. Besides background monitoring, which involves chemical analysis of water samples collected from National Hydrograph Network Stations (377 Nos), water samples from exploratory wells and other special study areas are also analysed.
The lab uses both titrimetric as well as instrumental methods for analysing water samples. The lab has been recently upgraded to 'Level II +' under World Bank aided Hydrology Project.
EquipmentThe equipment used in the lab are given below:
| 1 | Gas Chromatograph | Determination of Organic compounds such as pesticides in water samples |
| 2 | Electrode Selective ion meter | Determination of fluoride concentration in water |
| 3 | UV-VIS Spectrophotometer | Major ions such as NO3, PO4,SiO2 etc. |
| 4 | Flame Photometer | Determination of Alkali metals such as Na and K |
| 5 | Turbidity Meter | Determination of Sulphater (SO42-) |
| 6 | Conductivity Meter | Determination of Electrical Conductivity of water |
| 7 | pH Meter | Determination of pH of water |
