Water level fluctuation between April 2003 and April 2004  [Back] [Home]

       Comparison of April 2004 water level with that of April 2003 indicates fall in water level in many parts of the State.  66.3 % of NHS are showing fall in water level.  Fall in water level is restricted to the range of 2m as evidenced by 58.4 % of NHS and 7.9 % of NHS show fall in the range of 2- 8 m.  Rise in water level is predominant in the district of Wayanad.  The comparison of rainfall distribution during the year 2003-04 with respect to that of the previous year indicates that lesser rainfall has occurred during the year 2003-04.  The difference in rainfall is ranging from –5.5% (Idukki dist.) to –21.3%(Thrissur dist). The fall in water level during April 2004 is attributed to the lesser rainfall received during the year 2003 – 04 in comparison with the previous year.
