Water level fluctuation between mean January Water level of the period 1994 – 2003 and January 2004                                                   [Back] [Home]

Comparison of water level during January 2004 with respect to the mean January water level of the period 1994 – 2003 indicates that the water level fluctuation is mostly within +2 m(rise in water level) to –2 m(fall in water level) as recorded by 95.2 % of NHS.  Fall in water level is predominantly seen in the districts of Alappuzha, Ernakulm, Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur.  Fall in water level has been recorded by 65.2% of NHS in the State.  The predominant fall in water level may be attributed to the lesser rainfall received during the period 1.6.2003 to 31.12.04 when compared to normal.
